It's been a bit quiet...NOT ANY MORE!

Well, as the more observant among you may have noticed, the website, blog, Etsy and Facebook pages have all been a bit quiet for quite some time.
This is due to a major re-location of our workshop and Wyld Fire undergoing somewhat of a change of direction.

Please bear with us as we've moved everything, house and workshop, over 60 miles closer to the coast and out of the forest! We've downsized the workshop from over 1000sq/ft to less than quarter that size, so needless to say it's been a herculean effort to squeeze everything into the new space (or lack there of).
So, what does that mean for Wyld Fire? I hear you ask...
Well that's a very valid question. The good news is we're still going to be able to bring you all your favorite leather and horn items, although the horn may be more authentic than ever as we have nowhere to put the polisher, so it's all by hand for now!! We've also got the forge installed in one corner so we can continue with the metalwork items (there are a few new pieces coming soon!). All this just means that Gordon has to be a lot more organized! We're so close to being able to show you a sneak-peek inside the new "hobbit-hole" workshop so stay tuned for a few teaser pictures and then a video tour to see where all the work happens - don't worry we'll shoo all the goblins out into nextdoors field for some sunshine while we record the video!

We've also been pushing the Black Gate Combat Academy to new, great heights over the Winter period and are delighted to announce that Wyld Fire will be working with the Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM) to bring Roman Gladiators from BGCA to Arbeia and Segedunum over the Summer. We're also going to be at the Jarrow Medieval Fayre on the 29th of May doing craft demos, some practical archaeology and re-creation fighting.

Keep up to date with all the latest on our Facebook page and remember to check the website for new content! (soon)

February Half-term Holidays

During the February half-term school holidays we have two themed activity days coming up. Both of these are suitable for all ages, but under 18's must be accompanied.

Dragon Day will be on the 17th February, and Candle Day will be on the 19th February. Both days run from 10:30am to 1:00pm. The days will start with a fun craft session ran by Lily and will end with a traditional storytelling session by Gordon.

We strongly recommend booking in advance as places are limited, the cost of this activity is £10 per participant, and places can be booked via our bookings page.

Traditional Old Skills Fayre at Hay Farm, Ford & Etal

We're heading to Hay Farm this weekend for the Milfield Heavy Horse Association's "Looking Back" Traditional Old Skills Fayre. We'll be doing demonstrations of leatherwork over the 2 days, we have some have-a-go pieces for the children (young and old) to try we'll also be manning a stall loaded with our usual array of leather and horn goods.
So if you fancy a day out this weekend to see some traditional skills - spinning, blacksmithing, leather working or heavy horse teams - come along and say hello!
See you in the Autumn sunshine (hopefully!!)
